CREST-Doctoral Research Opportunities
in Environmental Engineering
Is offering first year research assistantships
for students interested in pursuing
Ph.D. degrees in environmental engineering.
Successful candidates will conduct
collaborative research under the recently
established National Science Foundation
Center for Research Excellence in Science
and Technology for Research on the Environmental
Sustainability of Semi-Arid Coastal
Areas (CREST-RESSACA).
CREST-RESSACA emphasizes emerging areas
of science, technology and engineering
in sustainability of semi-arid coastal
areas and promotes research opportunities
for graduate and undergraduate students
through hands-on experience with state-of-the-art
instrumentation and methodologies in
new environmental laboratories and at
various field sites.
RESSACA activities are broadly divided
into three crosscutting research areas:
Environmental Informatics, Environmental
Systems Modeling, and Living Laboratories
for Academics and Research. Being located
in the heart of predominantly Hispanic
South Texas, a major goal of the CREST-RESSACA
is to increase the representation of
minorities attaining doctoral degrees
in environmental engineering.
RESSACA serves as a major resource
for environmental sustainability research,
integrates sustainability research and
education, transfers research to the
public domain and serves as a major
research partner with institutions along
both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.
Funding opportunities exist for qualified
outstanding students in engineering
and the sciences able to further the
program's goals. Interested individuals
must submit an application including
Curriculum Vitae, a statement of interest,
and a list of references to:
