| All new and transfer international students
upon his/her arrival to Texas A&M University-Kingsville
cannot register for courses immediately.
- The International Student Services (ISS)
office is required to keep copies of certain
documents in the student's file per Immigration
and Naturalization Services rules and regulations.
- Due to mandatory insurance requirements,
proof of coverage must be submitted to the
ISS office. Copies of coverage/policy are
placed in the student's file.
- The TAMUK Executive Council approved the
request that orientation for new and transfer
international students be mandatory.
The ISS office places a "hold" for
each item mentioned above on the student's records.
This blocks any student from registering for
courses.
- The Admissions Office also places "holds"
on students' records which will block the
student from registering. The ISS office can
check your records to see if you have any
holds placed by Admissions.
New and transfer international students can
register for courses only
after all holds have been cleared or waived
by the appropriate office.
Once holds have been cleared, the student needs
to meet with his/her graduate advisor in the
department of his/her major and follows the
steps below.
- Obtain degree plan from academic advisor
in your area of study/major.
- Choose courses. Required minimum credits
hours per immigration regulations: Graduate
- 9 credit hours.
- Advisor/department secretary will input
courses into computer. Request copy of class
schedule.
- Pay tuition fees at Business office located
in College Hall. Request receipt of tuition
bill indicating payment had been made.
- Take receipt of tuition bill to ID Center
located in Student Union Building (SUB). The
Office is directly across from Pizza Hut.
Receipt required to obtain University ID card.
